NDNSC holds National Nature Festival
ABRAR SALEKIN RAIYAN
On October 9-10, the Notre Dame Nature Study Club hosted the 6th National Nature Festival. This festival allowed students from school, college and universities to participate in 5 particular events which were nature Olympiad, eco-friendly project display, wall magazine, confab seminar and photo fiesta.
On the first day of the festival, Archbishop Kocherry, Ambassador, Embassy of the Holy See, was present as the chief guest. Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmad, Country Representative of IUCN; Muqueed Mojumder Babu, Chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation; Prof. Sirajul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Science, North South University; Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Founder Director of NSSB & Founder of NDNSC were the special guests at the inauguration ceremony.
George Mesthos, Cultural Affairs Officer, The American Center, Dhaka; Md. Jakariya, Chairman, DESM, North South University; Tapan Kumar Dey, CF, Department of Forest; Mohammad Shahad Mahabub Chowdhury, Project Manager, Updating Species Red List Of Bangladesh were the guests at the prize giving ceremony. At the afternoon session of the second day, the winners of each event were announced. The winners' crests and certificates were handed to them by the Principal of Notre Dame College, Fr. Hemanto Pius Rozario CSC.
Eastern University and Hanghzou Normal University sign MOU
Eastern University of Bangladesh and Hanghzou Normal University of China signed a Memorandum of Understanding recently in China. Under the MOU students of Eastern University will get dual degree, facility of education and scholarships from both Universities.
Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University and Dr. Du Wei, President of the Hanghzou Normal University signed the agreement while Abul Khair Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees of Eastern University, and other officials were present at the event. At the meeting, it was agreed that members of the faculties of the two universities will be exchanged and dual degrees in Department of Engineering, Economics and Management will be given to the students of both universities.
NSU Finance Club to host National Financial Modelling Competition
NSU Finance Club brings "IDLC Presents BLUEPRINTS 1.0", the first financial modelling competition in Bangladesh for undergraduate students. The competition is powered by Teletalk.
BLUEPRINTS 1.0 is a platform where participants can apply their financial knowledge into analysis and decision making, work with templates of actual financial models, get an opportunity to interview professionals, and build their skills as aspiring financial analysts.
The format of this competition is not only to assess, but instil the knowledge of financial modelling, analysis and decision making among its participants, tapping into the vast potential of numerous aspiring finance professionals of the country.
There will be workshops before each phase of the competition. These workshops, besides introducing participants to financial modelling, will also cover detailed instructions on how to utilise the resources provided – including templates to work on – and help to bring out the participants' analysing prowess.
Prize money of BDT 200,000 is to be awarded to the winning team of the competition. The first and second runners up will get BDT 100,000 and BDT 50,000 respectively. Additionally, top five teams will be shortlisted for employment opportunities by reputed financial institutions.

Orientation Programme at World University of Bangladesh
Orientation programme for the students of Faculty of Science & Engineering, World University of Bangladesh was held on October 30, 2015 at the auditorium of the University. Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury graced the occasion as chief guest while Professor Dr. M Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer; and Dr. Muntasir Mannan Choudhury, Member, Board of Trustees, WUB were present as special guests. Professor A K M Ziaul Islam, Controller of Examinations, chaired the session. Deans of the faculties; Registrar; Proctor and heads of the departments also spoke on the occasion.
