BUFT celebrates 3 years

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) celebrated 3 years of its successful operation and the final match of the football tournament on March 22, 2015. The event was held at the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Field in Uttara. Abdus Salam Murshedy, Sr. Vice President of Bangladesh Football Federation, Former President of BGMEA and Founder Member of BOT, BUFT was present as the chief guest. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Founder Chairman, BOT, BUFT, chaired the program. 
S.M. Mannan (Kochi), Vice Chairman (Admin); Reaz Bin Mahmood, Vice Chairman (Finance); Faruque Hassan, Member , BOT;  Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), Member , BOT, BUFT attended the programme as special guests. VC of BUFT, Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain; Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Registrar A N M Rafiqul Alam, Head of Logistics Wg. Cdr. Shahidullah (Retd.), faculty members, officials and students were present. The event was jointly organised by BUFT Cultural Committee and the Games & Sports Committee. Kazi Shamsur Rahman, Sr. Asst. Professor, Head of AMT Dept. & Chairperson of Cultural Committee and Obaidullah, Sr. Asst. Professor & Proctor, and Chairperson of Games & Sports Committee were on supervision. The football match was held between Textile Engineering Dept. and 131 Batch, where the former became champions by a 4-1 goal margin.

DIU observes Global Money Week 2015 

Daffodil International University (DIU) observed the Global Money Week 2015 from March 9-17, 2015 in association with the Ministry of Education and Bangladesh Bank. The closing ceremony was held on March 18 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of University of Dhaka (DU). 
Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Minisry of Education was present as the chief guest. Presided over by Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro VC of DIU and convener of Global Money Week 2015, the programme was also addressed by  Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, VC of DIU, Prof. Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, DU, Prof. Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Treasurer, DU, Rene Cuartero, Regional Advisor for Asia-Pacific, Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI), M. Ehsanul Haque, Managing Director and CEO of Mercantile Bank Ltd., Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala, Managing Director, Dhaka Stock Exchange, Sukomal Sinha Chowdhury, Consultant, SME & SPD of Bangladesh Bank. 

ITHS wins “Best School Award” at the 6th Biochemistry Olympiad

Participants from International Turkish Hope School have secured the first position in the SSC/IGCSE Level category at the 6th Biochemistry Olympiad and have received the “Best School Award.”   
The competition was held on March 20, 2015 at Curzon Hall, Dhaka University and attracted more than 500 talented students from different reputed schools from Dhaka and other districts.
One of the ITHS students, Abrar Rahman, stood out as the 2nd runner up in the International GCSE Level, in individual category.
Dhaka University's Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department organised the daylong function which featured the inauguration program, quiz test, poster exhibition, interaction sessions and prize distributing ceremony.

MPH orientation ceremony at ASAUB 

Public Health Department of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) arranged an orientation ceremony for its newly admitted students of Master of Public Health (MPH) of spring 2015 semester on March 13, 2015. Prof. Dr. Dalem Ch. Barman, VC of ASAUB was present as the chief guest while Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Adviser of ASAUB was present as the special guest. Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Helal uz Zaman, Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Kohinur Begum, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Bari, Chairman, Dept. of Public Health and other teachers were present at the programme. 
The discussion programme began with the welcome speech given by Md. Khalequzzaman, Registrar of ASAUB. Dr. Jesmin Akhter, Assistant Professor, Public Health Department conducted the orientation programme.   

IUB inaugurates gymnasium and food court 

Independent University Bangladesh celebrated the inauguration of its gymnasium and food court on March 16, 2015.
The Chairman of IUB Founding Trust (ESTCDT), Chairman of the Board of Trustees, IUB, and members of the IUB Founding Trust, Vice Chancellor, Deans, and Heads of the Departments along with the members of the faculty, management and students joined in the ceremony.
A 6000 sq. feet high-tech gymnasium monitored by professional instructors has been setup in view of IUB's commitment to ensure a harmonious development of the mental, physical and spiritual prowess of the individual. A 5000 sq. feet food court with a seating capacity of more than 250 at a time offers a host of quality food and snacks.

Berger Award Programme held

On March 21, 2015, the Award Giving Ceremony of Berger Award Programme for the Students of Architecture, BUET (BASAB) was held at BUET Auditorium, Dhaka. 
Prof. Dr. Shayer Gofur, Chairman, Programme Committee, BASAB; Prof. Dr. Farida Nilufar, Head of Department of Architecture, BUET; Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited and Prof. Khaleda Ekram, Vice Chancellor, BUET graced the occasion. 
Rupali Chowdhury presented the certificates and Prof. Khaleda Ekram handed over the crests to the award winners. Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Sr. General Manager - Sales and Marketing, AKM Sadeque Nawaj, Gerneral Manager, Marketing, teachers and students of the department, senior officials of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited were also present on this occasion.
An exhibition will be inaugurated on March 23, 2015 at Department of Architecture, BUET showcasing the projects of the BASAB competition. The exhibition will remain open for all during March 23-25, 2015.
