Shahjalal bank director held for embezzling Tk 140cr
Officials of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today arrested a director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited in the capital on charges of misappropriating Tk 140 crore.
A team of the ACC picked up Md Sulaiman from Akram Tower in Bijoynagar around 11:30am, Pranab Chakrobarti, public relation officer of the anti-graft body, told The Daily Star.
The arrest was made following a case filed against him by the bank authorities on April 13 this year.
In the case filed with Chittagong Kotwali Police Station, the complaint accused Sulaiman of misappropriating Tk 140 crore from the bank.
Later, the case was shifted to the ACC for investigation.
