Shabnam Mushtari performs at National Museum

Noted artiste and exponent of Nazrul songs, Shabnam Mushtari, performed in a solo musical soiree after a long hiatus, on June 9. Organised by Amra Surjamukhi, the event was held at Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
The artiste started off the soiree with a devotional song “Dao Shourjo Dao Dhoirjo”. She rendered raga-based songs, Islamic songs, kavyageeti and kirttans. Shabnam Mushtari's repertoire included “Tumi Shunitey Cheyona”, “Morey Bhalobashaye Bhulio Na”, “Hey Namaji Amar Ghore”, “Money Porey Aj”, “Tumi Jodi Radha Hotey Shyam”, “Porodeshi Megh”, “Amaye Nohey Go” and “Noorjahan”. She also performed several songs on request from the audience.
The event, titled “Phiria Esho, Esho Hey Phirey”, featured a discussion as well. Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka AAMS Arefin Siddique attended as chief guest while Chief Editor and Managing Director of BSS Abul Kalam Azad and Sadya Afreen Mallick, Editor, Star Arts and Entertainment spoke as special guests at the event. Noted media personality Muhammad Jahangir and lyricist Shahidullah Farayezi also spoke at the event.
