Schoolgirl rescued 8 days into abduction

Eight days into her abduction, police rescued a schoolgirl in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur early yesterday.
The victim belongs to a Hindu family from Durasitpur village and a class IX student of Pirganj Girls' School in Pirganj upazila.
 Being tipped-off, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Firoz Khan Noon raided the house of one Bipul Chandra Das, 25, at Durasitpur village in Pirganj upazila around 12:30am and rescued the girl. The abductors, however, managed to flee the spot sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
 On June 24, unidentified criminals abducted the girl from her aunt's house at Uttar Balubari area of Dinajpur town, where she came to visit earlier on the day.
The next day, father of the victim field an abduction case with Dinajpur Sadar Police Station, accusing 6 people, including Bipul, said Altaf Hossain, officer in-charge of the police station.
In Jhenidah, police rescued a youth from Harinakundo upazila of Jhenidah, hours after he was abducted from Mujibnagar upazila in Meherpur early yesterday, our Jhenidah correspondent reports.
The abductee Mamunur Rashid, 23, son of Ruhul Amin of Anandabad village in Mujibnagar upazila, is a health assistant at a local community clinic.
Ershadul Karim, officer in-charge of Harinakundo Police Station, said Sohel Ahmed and Mazharul Islam, two alleged abductors forcibly picked up Mamunur on their motorbike from Mujibnagar Bazar around 7:30am and fled the scene.
As they reached Charabottola area in Harinakundo, their bike went out of fuel and stopped midway to their journey. At that time, Mamunur started screaming and sought help from the passer-by to rescue him. In response to his call, locals caught the two abductors and rescued Mamunur.
