Schoolboy abducted for ransom killed
Police recovered the body of an abducted schoolboy from Sasmol village in the char area of Monu River under Rajnagar upazila on Sunday.
They also arrested one Mahfujur Rahman Luban, son of late Mahbubur Rahaman Mobu of Sirajnagar village in Srimangal upazila in connection with the abduction and murder of the boy.
The deceased is Ashraful Islam, 12, son of Nurul Miah of Jeti Road in Srimangal upazila town. He was a student of class five at Srimangal Birds Residential School and College.
Police and family sources said Luban, who was a house tutor of Ashraful, sought some money from the grandmother of the victim a few days ago.
Being refused, Luban picked up Asraful from his house on Saturday afternoon, took him to Kunagaon in the char area and demanded Tk 15 lakh ransom from the family members.
On information, police recovered Ashraful's body from the spot on Sunday night, said Md Abdullah, officer in-charge of Rajnagor Police Station.
As the victim's family refused to pay the ransom money, Luban killed the boy, said the OC.
