Myanmar is yet to show any real will to ensure safe repatriation of the Rohingya refugees now living in Bangladesh, UN Special Rapporteur Yanghee Lee said today.

"It is clear that the Myanmar government has made no progress or shown any real will to accelerate the repatriation process," Lee said at a press conference in Dhaka.

Lee expects, that due to such, the repatriation process will not be happening anytime soon.

"The overall situation in the northern Rakhine state of Myanmar is not stable and safe as the systemic violence targeting the remaining Rohingyas is going on there,” Lee said.

The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar visited Rohingya refugees' camps in Cox’s Bazar from June 29 to July 8 and shared her experience at the press conference.
