Robbers kill man in capital
Robbers killed a 55-year-old man in the capital's Shahjahanpur early yesterday.
The victim was identified as Abdul Jalil Mia, an LGED staff from Faridpur.
Bashir Ahmed, the victim's son, said a group of five robbers broke into his house around 2:30am.
The miscreants took Bashir's family hostage brandishing sharp weapons, said Bashir, who was not at home at the time.
The robbers confined Bashir's mother, brother and wife in one room but took Abdul to another room, he said.
The criminals looted gold ornaments weighing around 15 tolas, Tk 12 lakh and $600, said police quoting family members.
After the robbers left, the family cried for help. On information, police rushed to the spot. The law enforcers had to break down the door to the room where Jalil had been confined in.
Jalil's body was found tied up there, said police.
