'Robber' held after gunfight with cops

Police arrested an alleged ringleader of robbers after a gunfight between the gang and police on Dhaka- Rangpur highway in Paglapir area of Rangpur Sadar on Thursday night.
The law enforcers arrested Md Firoz, 35, of the upazila with bullet wounds in his legs. Two policemen were also injured in the gunfight, said police.
A police team conducted a drive in the area around 11:45pm after receiving information that the gang would hold a meeting there, said police sources.
Sensing presence of police, the gang opened fire on the law enforcer forcing the policemen to retaliate with gunfire of their own, they added.
Firoz is now at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.  
Firoz is accused in nine cases including murder cases.
