Road crashes kill seven, injure 14

Seven people were killed and 14 others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday and Wednesday.
Our Kushtia correspondent reports, three people, including a police constable, died when a truck hit a bus from behind while they were conducting a rescue operation in the bus after it dashed against a tree in Basantapur area in Rajbari Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The dead were Constable Rubel Hossain, 27, of Meherpur; Gazi Delwar Hossain, 42, of Bagerhat; and Harun Sheikh, 32, of Khulna.
Thirteen people were also injured in the accident.
Our Khulna correspondent reports, two people died another was injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a pick-up van on Khulna-Rupsha highway near Rupsha Bridge in the city yesterday.
The deceased were Kamrul Islam, 38, the van driver and Rafiqul Islam, 35, of Bagerhat.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent reports, a woman died when a private car hit her as the driver lost control over the vehicle in Hoyghar local road area under Rajnagor upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased, Shajeda Khatun, 60, wife of Nazar Ali of Hoyghar village, was crossing the road.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds a person died when a truck ran him over while he was crossing Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Gugad village under Sarail upazila in the district yesterday.
The deceased was Jakir Mia, 30, of Shahbazpur village under the upazila.
