Road crashes kill five
Five people died and 13 others were injured in separate road crashes across the country on Sunday night and yesterday.
In Jhalakathi, two people died and one was injured when a bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in Nalcity on the Khulna-Barisal highway yesterday, reports our Jhalakathi correspondent.
The dead were Mafuza Begum, 20, wife of Hasan Ahamed, and Mostafa Sharif, 45, driver of the auto-rickshaw, said police.
Hasan and his wife were going to their home village when a bus coming from Barisal hit the auto-rickshaw they were in, killing the two on the spot and leaving Hasan injured, said police.
A case was filed.
A man died and two women were injured when the auto-rickshaw they were in overturned in Nandigram upazila of Bogra district yesterday, according to our Bogra correspondent.
The deceased was Moklesur Rahman, 65, said police.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle in Trimohoni Bazar area, and it overturned killing Moklesur on the spot.
An unnatural death case was filed. A man was killed and two others were injured when a potato-laden truck overturned in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur on Sunday night, said our Dinajpur correspondent.
The deceased was Md Faruk Hossain, 25, of the upazila, said police.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. The trio was travelling on the back of truck.
In Moulvibazar, an unidentified man died and eight others were injured on Sunday when two auto-rickshaws collided head-on in Srimangal upazila of the district, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
