Road crashes kill 5, injure 6

Five people died and six people were injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.

In Chittagong, Kabir Hossain, 40, a sergeant of Fouzderhat Highway Police Outpost died and four others were injured as a police patrol van hit a covered-van on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila.

In Habiganj -- Safique Miah, 40, and Masuk Miah, 25, of Simulghar village died, and two others were injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a pickup-van on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabpur upazila.

In Lalmonirhat, Nazrul Islam, 48, of Nawdabash village died when a truck hit his bicycle on Chaparhat-Chandrapur road under Kaliganj upazila. In Panchagarh, Abdul Quader, 35, of Kaleshwar village died when a tractor rammed into his motorcycle in Amlahar village under Panchagarh Sadar.
