Rizvi taken to DB office

Showing arrested in a bus torching case, Badda police this afternoon sent BNP’s Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed to the Mintoo Road office of Detective Branch of police for interrogation.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) earlier in the afternoon handed the BNP leader to Badda police hours into his arrest from a Baridhara residence in Dhaka early today.
MA Jalil, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, told The Daily Star that Rizvi has been shown arrested in a case filed tor torching a bus on January 26 in the area.
A team of Rab-1 team raided a Baridhara residence at around 2:45am and arrested Rizvi from there, Shamsuddin Didar, a staff of BNP chairperson’s media wing, told The Daily Star at 3:05am.
Talking to our reporter at noon, Tuhin Md Masud, commanding officer of Rab-1, said Rizvi was arrested from residential building No. 98 on Park Road in Baridhara for his alleged link with the recent violence and subversive activities.
The house belongs to an activist of BNP from Chittagong, the Rab official said.
The elite force will show him arrested under the 54 section of CrPC and hand him over to the police later in the day, said Mufti Mahmud Khan, director at Legal and Media Wing of Rab.
Rizvi was in Rab custody till 12:30pm when the report was filed.
Earlier on January 3, police forcibly picked up Rizvi from BNP’s Nayapaltan central office at 11:30pm and admitted him to Apollo Hospital at Bashundhara saying that the BNP joint secretary general had been feeling ill and that they helped him taking to hospital.
After two days, Rizvi left the hospital without telling the hospital authority and went into hiding since January 6.
