Rizvi, Hannan denied bail

A Dhaka court yesterday denied bail to BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, ASM Hannan Shah and Belal Ahmed and sent them to jail in three cases.
The court also refused the remand prayers for the BNP leaders but allowed the investigators to grill them at the jail gate within 10 days.
Motijheel and Paltan police produced them before the court with the remand prayers in the cases filed by police.
BNP standing committee member Hannan Shah and its executive committee member Belal have been made accused in two cases, out of the three, on charge of torching vehicles and preventing police from their duties as well as making an attempt to kill policemen at Kamalapur on September 24 and before Ideal School and College in the capital Motijheel on November 5.
BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi has also beenz made accused in the two cases and rest of the case filed for the same charges in front of the BNP Nayapaltan office on November 28.
On November 25, Hannan Shah was held from Baridhara in the capital, minutes after the opposition alliance rejected the polls schedule while Rizvi and Belal were arrested from the BNP headquarters on November 30.
Earlier Rizvi was interrogated at the jail gate in another case filed over setting fire to a bus near Shishu Park at Shahbagh on November 28 that left three people killed and 16 others injured.
Hannan was also taken on a two-day remand in another case filed over torching a car in the capital's Bhatara on October 26.
