Rice looted from Ashuganj recovered in Bogra
Around 252 sacks of rice, looted from Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria district on Monday night, was recovered from Mirzapur area under Sherpur upazila of Bogra early yesterday.
Police arrested two members of a robber gang, raiding their houses in Sherpur upazila.
The arrestees are Taposh Kumar, 30, son of Shombhu Kumar of Sutrapur village, and Jahangir Alam Jewel, 34, son of Azgar Ali of Dorimukunda village in the upazila.
Police said the arrestees are members of an inter-district robber gang and confessed to looting the rice.
On the basis of their statements, law enforcers raided a go-down near Mirzapur Filling Station on Bogra-Dhaka highway at around 3:00am and recovered the rice from there.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman of Sherpur Police Station said the recovered rice and the arrested robbers were sent to Ashuganj Police Station yesterday noon.
