Religious minorities to protest 'pogroms' Feb 13

Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council will form human chains across the country on February 13 demanding an end to attacks on minorities and trial of the perpetrators.

The announcement came at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity yesterday.

Despite movements, religious fundamentalists are still continuing attacks on the communities to drive them out of the country, said the council leaders. They claimed in a press release that at least three people were killed, three others raped, and seven temples, 54 households and 84 idols were vandalised between January 1 and 19 across the country. The council also deferred its scheduled grand rally in the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan from January 23 to March 13.
