Rajshahi-Dhaka bus service halts till Sunday
Transport workers have called a strike on the Rajshahi-Dhaka route till Sunday citing security reasons.
Rajshahi district motor workers' union declared that they will enforce the strike from 5:00pm today till Sunday evening, reports our Rajshahi correspondent.
"No coaches will leave Rajshahi for Dhaka in the face of counter programmes by the ruling and opposition parties," said Kamal Hossain, president of the union.
The union leader said the strike was called for the safety of their lives and properties.
Khaled Zia, chief of the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance, in a press conference on Tuesday evening declared to organise a march towards Dhaka for December 29.
Later, the government vowed to resist the 'March for Democracy', which caused huge security concern among people across the country.
