Qulkhwani of Sultan uz-Zaman Khan today
The qulkhwani of Sultan uz-Zaman Khan will be held at the capital's Gulshan Azad mosque after Maghrib prayers today.
He passed away on January 19 at the age of 83.
His family has requested all well-wishers to attend the qulkhwani.
Sultan uz-Zaman Khan was the first chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Bangladesh and served from 1993 to 1996, says a press release.
He entered the Civil Service of Pakistan (CSP) in 1955. He was the commissioner of Khulna Division in 1970. After the liberation of Bangladesh, he served as the secretary of the Shipping, Inland Waterways and Aviation in 1973. He was a senior international civil servant with ESCAP (Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific) in Bangkok from 1977 to 1992.
He authored his memoirs “Smritir Shaath Kahon” in 2007.
He left behind his wife, Rabeya Khan (Feroza); two daughters, Anita Khan and Rebecca Khan; sons-in-law, Deedarul Huq Khan and Abul Salek; and two grand-children, along with a host of friends, relatives and loved ones.
