The Directorate General of Health Services yesterday requested Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital and five other hospitals to take necessary measures to provide Covid-19 treatment to the members of Dhaka Bar Association (DBA) and their families.

The other hospitals are -- Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, East-West Hospital at Uttara, Samorita Hospital Ltd, National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute and Ibrahim Medical College (BIRDEM).

The order came after DBA General Secretary Hossain Ali Khan Hassan on June 22 appealed to DGHS for taking necessary measures to ensure treatment for coronavirus-infected members at six hospitals in the capital.

The bar association also appealed for setting up a booth at Dhaka District Judge's Court area, adjacent to the association, to collect samples for Covid-19 tests for members and their families.

In the application, Hassan said DBA is an Apex Bar of Asia sub-continent with over 25,000 members.

Recently, a number of lawyers and their family members tested positive for coronavirus and some lawyers died of the infection without proper treatment.

The DGHS, on June 18, allowed members of the Supreme Court Bar Association and their families to take treatment for Covid-19 at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital, Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital and East-West Hospital at Uttara.
