Pran partners with Syngenta to support smallholders

Syngenta Foundation Bangladesh and Pran Agro Business will work together to provide better support and buy high-quality produce from smallholders to help them earn more.
Marco Ferroni, executive director of Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture, and Md Eleash Mridha, director of Pran-RFL Group, signed a deal on behalf of Pran Agro Business and Syngenta Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The partners will build the capacity of 5,000 small and marginal farmers of Natore district in northwestern Bangladesh by establishing farmers' hubs as information, services and transaction centres and develop contract farming system for fresh vegetables and processed crops.
“This agreement will help Pran to source good agricultural produce and ensure a better return for the smallholders,” said Mridha.
“We are delighted to be able to extend our existing relationship with Pran and enable even more farmers in Bangladesh to improve their livelihoods,” said Ferroni.
Md Mahtab Uddin, chief operating officer of Pran Agro Business; Md Farhad Zamil, director of Syngenta Foundation Bangladesh, were also present.
