Power cut stops Ctg airport for 2 hours
Power failure disrupted flight operation to and from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong for around two hours yesterday morning.
The airport experienced the blackout from 6:30am to 8:20am, confirmed Noor-E-Alam, the airport manager.
Since the signal lights were not working due to the power outage, landing of two flights -- a domestic and an international -- was delayed, he said.
However, the airport officials managed to continue activities like luggage scanning manually, Noor-E-Alam added.
Due to the blackout, a flight of Oman Airways that was scheduled to land at the airport at 8:31am, touched down about 13 minutes later. A domestic flight of US-Bangla Airlines from Dhaka landed the airport 28 minutes behind schedule.
The power supply from the Power Development Board and two generators at the airport were okay but the electricity distribution panel of the airport did not work properly due to a technical glitch, causing the blackout, said Noor-E-Alam.
