Last JS session begins today
The last session of the 10th parliament began today and will continue for five days till October 25.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the Business Advisory Council of the Jatiya Sangsad held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, a release of the Parliament Secretariat today said.
However, the Speaker, if necessary, can change the date and time of the session, the release added.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury presided over the meeting attended by Leader of the House Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
After the BAC meeting, the 23rd session of the current parliament began at 4:45pm.
This session is likely to be the last session of the 10th parliament as there is no obligation to summon any session of parliament during the national election according to the constitution.
The Election Commission has already said it will declare the schedule for the 11th national election any day after October.
On October 4, President Abdul Hamid convened the session exercising the power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution.
The 10th parliament went into its maiden session on January 29, 2014.
