Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today said there have always been allegations of vote rigging globally during elections.
"You see, there have been allegations of vote rigging in USA after Trump's defeat. After losing election, it was said there was vote rigging," UNB reports quoting the CEC.
This is the norm, if Awami League lost, they might have complained of vote rigging, he said while talking to reporters after a meeting over the upcoming Savar municipality elections held at the conference centre of the Upazila Parishad this afternoon.
Calling upon all parties to have faith in him, Nurul Huda said that fair elections are being held under his supervision and will be held in future, reports our Savar correspondent.
"Trust us, we hold impartial election…," he said adding that there were no irregularities in any election in Bangladesh at present.
Stating that stern action will be taken against anyone who wants to create unrest over polls, the CEC said the people have confidence in the present Election Commission. Therefore, all voters are able to go to the polling station and cast their votes properly, he added.
