Pahela Boishakh in Vietnam
The Bangla New Year 1421 was celebrated for the first time in Saigon, Vietnam by Bengalees in Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent areas. All Bangalees residing in the city participated in the daylong celebrations at The Vista community Hall at district 2, Ho Chi Minh City. The programme commenced with a dance with the Tagore song “Anondoloke Mongol Aloke”, followed by group presentation of “Esho Hey Boiskakh”. This was followed by a series of duet dances and songs, and the cultural event ended with solo performances of Kanica, Tillotoma and Rizwan, says a press release.
The highlights of the day included a wide variety of sumptuous traditional Bengali cuisine. The event continued with conventional popular party games which saw active participation from children and women, followed by a singing competition among two groups of men and women. The full day festivity provided everyone with the taste and flavour of Bangla New Year celebrations for the family and friends, far away from home.
