Owner, 6 others sued, one more body found
Police yesterday filed a case against seven people, including the owner of 'MV Miraj-4', in connection with the launch capsize in Meghna river on Thursday, after four days into the incident.
Haidar Hossain Akand, sub-inspector of Gazaria Police Station, filed the case against Khandaker Anwar Hossain, owner of 'MV Miraj-4', its six employees and 2 to 3 other unidentified persons on charges of overloading passengers and goods.
Six other named accused are Rafiqul Islam, Shamsuddin, Mintu, Dulal, Shahid and Nurul Islam. Of them, Rafiqul was the master of the launch.
The Shariatpur-bound launch from Dhaka sank into the Meghna with around 200 passengers on board in Gazaria upazila of the district during a nor'wester on Thursday.
With the recovery of one more body yesterday, the death toll in the launch capsize rose to 57.
