Two Star journos win DRU award
Two journalists of The Daily Star yesterday received Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Best Reporting Award-2018.
The newspaper's Executive Editor (Digital) Inam Ahmed and Planning Editor Shakhawat Liton were jointly awarded for their outstanding reporting on crime and law enforcement.

They collaborated on a three-part series, which explored the invasion of Yaba pills in Bangladesh. The first report headlined “Bangladesh Hostage to Myanmar” was published on May 12.
A total of 19 journalists received the award during a ceremony in DRU auditorium. Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, former vice chancellor of Dhaka University, handed over the awards to the winners, each receiving a certificate, crest and prize money of Tk 1 lakh.
The other award recipients (print media category) are Rajib Noor and Abu Saleh Rony of Samakal, Nazmul Ahsan Raju of Bangladesher Khobor, Shariful Alam Sumon of Kaler Kantho, Bilkis Irani of Dhaka Tribune, Masud Alam of Prothom Alo, Jasim Uddin Harun and Jobayer Hasan of Financial Express and Faruq Alam of Amar Sangbad.
Shahed Shafiq of Bangla Tribune, Murad Hossain and Jahangir Alam of jagonews24.com were awarded under the online category. In the television and radio category, Rajib Ghosh of DBC News, Abdul Kaiyum Tuhin of Channel 24, Apurba Alauddin of Jamuna TV, Farhana Parvin of BBC Bangla, and Hasan Jabed of NTV won the award.
A total of 245 reports were submitted for the competition.
The ceremony was presided over by DRU President Jamal while Prime Minister's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, DRU's former president and best reporting award's Jury Board Chairman Shajahan Sardar, and DRU General Secretary Syed Shukur Ali were also present.
