Mahindra keen on setting up agro-machinery assembling plant in Bangladesh

Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd is keen on establishing an assembling plant for agro-machineries in Bangladesh.

The Indian firm will also take an initiative to develop skilled manpower to make use of machines more popular and ensure their easy maintenance.

Pawan Goyenka, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, said this during a meeting with Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque on a virtual platform, according to a press release issued by agriculture ministry.

In a briefing after the meeting, the minister said Mahindra is interested in investing as there is a huge scope for mechanisation and that would play a vital role in country's economic development.

Apart from setting up an assembling plant, Mahindra will also give orders for manufacturing machine parts to small entrepreneurs and to those who are engaged in producing parts here to create local entrepreneurs.

The Indian company is also planning to give loans to farmers taking into consideration their inability to purchase agricultural machines due to high prices.

The meeting was the follow up of India-Bangladesh digital conference on agriculture sector in December, the release stated.
