Football-crazy Bangladesh fan to extend flag record

A football-crazy Bangladeshi man named Amzad Hossain, who created world-record three-and-a-half-kilometer German flag to support the Die Mannschaft at the FIFA World Cup in 2014, is set to extend his record as this time around he will build a five-and-a-half-kilometer flag for 2018 Russia World Cup.

Amzad, who hails from Magura is a farmer who sold his land for 2.5 lakh taka in order to fund his world-record venture in 2014. After Germany won the World Cup, the German ambassador met with Amzad and honoured him with a membership of Germany Fan Club during a reception at the Magura Stadium.

According to Magura correspondent report, Amzad possesses the three and half kilometer flag form last World Cup. Work on the rest of the two kilometers of the flag is going on at a tailor house in Meherpur.

Amzad will showcase his extended flag at a local school on June 5. His last wish is to create a 22 Kilometre flag for the 2022 World Cup, a flag which will spread from Magura to Shimakhali in the Magura-Jessore highway.
