The Election Commission (EC) has decided not to declare general holiday in Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) area on the day of polls, scheduled to be held on January 27.
The EC issued a circular in this regard yesterday, said Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, returning officer of CCC election.
He added that there would be no restriction on public transport movement.
When asked about the reason of the decision, Hasanuzzaman said if general holiday is announced, many voters may go out of the city.
Moreover, if it is declared, traders and businesspeople may suffer too, he said.
