NIA team due next week

A team of India's National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Burdwan blast, will visit Bangladesh next week for studying previous terror cases related to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
A senior NIA official in the rank of inspector general of police will lead the team to Dhaka tentatively on November 9-10.
With all the main accused of the Burdwan blast having managed to give a slip to the West Bengal police and NIA, the probe agency now wants to visit the neighbouring country to gather more information about the group, officials in Delhi said yesterday.
The home ministry is processing a request of the NIA to visit Bangladesh to share inputs about JMB, gathered during the probe and interrogation of a couple of people arrested by Bangladesh police in September.
The proposed trip has become necessary as the probe into the October 2 blast in a Burdwan house has led to various leads that pointed to alleged involvement of JMB cadres, sources said.
The NIA last week announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the arrest of main accused Kausar, Nasirullah, Sajid (all believed to be Bangladesh nationals) and West Bengal residents Talha Sheikh and Maulana Yusuf Sheikh.
Sources privy to the investigation said no substantial evidence has emerged so far to give any clue about the exact plans of JMB on a plot to target Bangladesh government leaders.
The blast took place inside a house at Khagragarh, killing one Shakil Ahmed on the spot. Another person Sovan Mandal died of his wounds at a hospital. The two were suspected to have terror links.
The NIA, which was being assisted by West Bengal police, was unable to prepare sketches of either Sajid or Nasirullah.  During its visit to Bangladesh, the NIA team will try to find out more about Sajid and Nasirullah so that a sketch could be circulated among various police agencies, said sources.
