Looking to enrol in your dream school?

Perfect your Personal Statement Writing

Mrs. Stein is the Founder of the Matriculadies. The Matriculadies grew out of Mrs. Stein's lifelong practice of helping her friends and colleagues with their graduate school applications and resumes. When her friends' children started applying to high schools and then colleges, the Matriculadies, LLC was born. Countries Leading education consultancy service provider MACES is going to organize "Personal statement Writing Competition" from July. MACE is successfully organizing this competition for the last three years. This competition helps students on writing a perfect personal statement.

The personal statement is a key element of university application and many admissions officers use it to make their final decision on shortlisted candidates. This year MACES invited Harvard University trained Admissions Essay Specialist Mrs. Rebecca Stein to hold seminars on "How to write the perfect personal statement". She will guide the registrants to improve their personal statement writing skills.

Mrs. Stein holds a B.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago and an M.A. in Theological Studies from Harvard University. She serves as a member of the Alumni Schools Committee (interviewing prospective students) for both Harvard and the University of Chicago. Mrs. Stein, an expert in comprehensive writing, has been helping students write their best college application essays for over 25 years.

We sat for an exclusive interview with Mrs. Rebecca Stein where she talks about her experience and how Bangladeshi students can apply to Top US schools for scholarships and about many other things.

Why are Admission essays important?

At many US colleges and universities, an admissions officer reads an applicant's entire file for only six minutes. If it's not interesting, many essays are not even read all the way through.

How do you help students get in to top schools?

I help students put their best foot forward by helping them write the best personal statement they can. I help them avoid boring, vague and non-interesting essays that don't say anything about them. I help them avoid common mistakes.

What advice would you give to students looking to study in top schools like Harvard, Stanford etc

Start early. Pick schools you meet the admissions criteria for (grades and/or test scores) and write interesting, compelling, and differentiating personal statements.

What will be the main take away from this workshop?

An understanding of the role the personal statements play in the admissions process, and a start on the process of writing. In online follow-up, we will draft and polish the essay.

Say a little bit about these workshops

During the workshop we will do an overview of the role the personal statement plays in admissions for international students; we will learn what to avoid; we will do exercises and use tools to develop "your story" and we will have one-on-one time to develop the outline of the first draft.

What is the target audience of these workshops?

Students who are motivated and interested in attending college or university in the United States or UK, but don't know where to begin writing their personal statement.
