Panic in Gaza after Israel’s ultimatum

Palestinians carried belongings through the rubble-strewn streets of Gaza City Friday in search of refuge as Israel's army warned residents to flee immediately before an expected ground offensive in retaliation against Hamas for the deadliest attack in Israeli history.

Hamas fighters broke through the militarised border barrier around the Gaza Strip enclave last Saturday, killing more than 1,300 people in Israel, in an attack compared to 9/11 in the United States.

Hamas tells Gaza residents to stay home as Israel ground offensive looms

Mosques called on residents of the Gaza Strip not to leave their homes on Friday after Israel's military told all civilians, more than 1 million people, to relocate south ahead of an expected ground invasion that risks high casualties, reports Reuters.

Any incursion could be pivotal in fighting between the Israeli military and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which on Saturday launched the bloodiest attack on the country since the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.

Israel has already launched the heaviest air strikes on Gaza ever, and has mobilised 300,000 reservists and amassed tanks near the border.

Israel death toll in war with Hamas rises to over 1,300: army

More than 1,300 people have been killed in Israel since Hamas militants unleashed a massive attack from the blockaded Gaza Strip, the army said Friday, raising an earlier toll by 100.

Over 3,200 other people had been wounded, the Israeli army said on X, formerly Twitter, while families of 120 hostages have been contacted since attack at dawn on Saturday that spiralled into all-out war.

Hundreds of rockets fired from Gaza towards Israel: AFP

Militants in the Gaza Strip fired hundreds of rockets towards Israel on Friday, an AFP journalist reported, as the Israeli military continued pounding the Palestinian enclave with air strikes.

A barrage of rockets were fired within the past 15 minutes, the correspondent said.

Hamas says 13 hostages killed in Israel strikes on Gaza

At least 13 Israeli and foreign hostages held in the northern Gaza Strip have been killed in Israeli air strikes in the past 24 hours, Hamas's armed wing said today.

In a surprise assault early Saturday, Hamas militants stormed Israeli communities near the Gaza border and fired barrages of rockets, in an attack that claimed more than 1,200 lives.

Israel calls for all 1.1 million civilians to leave Gaza City

Israel's military on Friday called for all civilians of Gaza City, more than 1 million people, to relocate south within 24 hours, as it amassed tanks near the Gaza Strip ahead of an expected ground invasion, reports Reuters.

"Now is a time for war," Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said on Thursday as Israeli warplanes continued pounding Gaza in retaliation for the deadliest attack by Palestinian militants in its history.

US 'always by your side', Blinken tells Israel in war with Hamas

Secretary of State Antony Blinken vowed unwavering US support for Israel in its war on Hamas after talks Thursday with Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu, who promised to "crush" the Palestinian militant group, AFP reports.

Hamas gunmen killed more than 1,200 people in Israel and took about 150 hostages in Saturday's surprise attack, the deadliest since the country's creation in 1948.

More than 423,000 people displaced in Gaza: UN

More than 423,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in the Gaza Strip, the United Nations said, following heavy Israeli bombardments in retaliation for Hamas's attacks, reports AFP.

As of late Thursday, the number of displaced in Gaza rose by 84,444 people to reach 423,378, the UN humanitarian agency OCHA said in a statement sent today.
