Woman 'killed by stepson'

A woman was killed allegedly by her stepson at her residence in Jasim Commissioner Slum in the capital's Rayer Bazar yesterday.
Tahera Begum, 45, left behind a 40-day-old boy.
Quoting neighbours, the victim's daughter Shamsunnahar said her stepbrother Al Amin hacked Tahera with a sharp weapon following an altercation with her.
Tahera was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Shamsunnahar alleged that her six stepbrothers had threatened Tahera not to take any child as it would reduce their share in the property.
Police arrested Al Amin's mother Anwara and his brother Salauddin Bappi while he himself is absconding.
