Ways to Spend Your Salami
For anybody who is otherwise broke for the rest of the year, Eid-ul-Fitr is the most awaited time, provided you are still young enough to land yourself some salami. While convincing the elders of your family and neighbourhood to give you salami is the most challenging bit, what comes afterwards is difficult too -- the spending. Now most of us usually don't have any specific ideas about what to do with our Eid earnings. Many waste the money on ice cream at Movenpick (for the check-ins?), or just raid the shisha lounges. There are better options. We offer you a list of things you could do this Eid, depending on how much money you made as salami.

Plan and execute a trip. Life in the city can get hectic, and an occasional outing is necessary to recharge yourself. What could be better than to utilise the small window of vacation immediately following Eid, and going for a trip outside Dhaka? While Cox's Bazar may not fall within this budget, the options are endless. How about a quick trip to Sylhet, to visit the picturesque tea gardens and Madhabkunda? Or you could go to Kushtia, to spend some time at Lalon's shrine if you are an admirer of his work and vision.
Buy a cycle. With cycling quickly becoming the city's favourite form of exercising, commuting and refreshment even, you could buy yourself a mountain bike within the stated range, if you don't have one already. It would be a good one-time investment. Besides, cycling will help you lose the extra kilos you put on during the gluttonous Eid break!

A grand treat at Star Kabab. Your friends will never stop complaining about you not treating them on your last birthday. And since you have some dough in your pocket, this is the opportunity to shut them up for good. Treat them at Star Kabab -- one can never have enough of SK!

Buy novels. The few days of vacation after Eid can really get boring. So, get yourself a book or two if you're a bookworm. With novels such as Dan Brown's “Inferno”, Khaled Hosseini's “And the Mountain Echoed”, and J.K. Rowling's (AKA Robert Galbraith) “The Cuckoo's Calling” available at really low prices, Nilkhet is the go-to place if you have had very limited earnings.
Watch a Bangla movie. With your friends; in a cinema hall that is not Cineplex. Bolaka or Purobi, maybe? We hear that the new Shakib Khan movie is en route to the nearest theatres on Eid. Go and have a good time; unless you are a Shakib Khan fanboy/fangirl, in which case, enjoy the action!
There you go. We got ideas for you that deviate slightly from the regular post-Eid activities. If any of these works out for you, don't forget to send the Shout team a cake!
