Voters ready to say goodbye to govt

Says Fakhrul

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said no new strategy and campaign of the government to convince voters in their favour would work as voters had already decided to say goodbye to the present administration.
The government illegally possessed billboards to display its various successes. “But no strategy will work,” he told a rally organised by Bangladesh Youth Forum in the capital's Jatiya Press Club.
Addressing another programme there, BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed said killings like that of Jubo League leaders Riazul Haque Khan Milky and Jahid Siddique Tarek would recur as the ruling party's youth and student wings had become “desperate.”
Meanwhile, a recorded speech of BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman's “thoughts on development of country's agricultural sector” was screened through a projector in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University auditorium.
Agricultural Association of Bangladesh, a pro-BNP agriculturalists' body, organised the programme.
On July 24, Tarique first came up with his “thoughts” at an iftar in London where he has been since 2008. He stressed setting up an “independent and farmer-friendly price determination commission” to ensure farmers are paid a fair price.
