Uttarayan to present “Phool-er Prem-e Rabindranath”
Rabindranath's works are rich narratives of natural beauty, often presented in simple yet vivid language. Musical organisation Uttarayan will bring to life the bard's creative works strongly fragranced in natural elements -- particularly flowers -- on stage at the main auditorium of the National Museum on Friday.
Speaking on the programme, Lily Islam told The Daily Star that Rabindranath had a strong affinity to nature and its changes in Bengal; he used references of some 68 flowers in all of his works. His idea of outdoor classes at Shantiniketan was also borne of his love of and proximity to nature. Uttarayan believes that this is one of the most distinctive elements of his works, and the programme was conceived to celebrate it.
“Phool-er Prem-e Rabindranath” will feature three poems and 17 songs, presented with special video projection and instrumental arrangements. Noted music director and violinist Durbadal Chattopadhyay will be performing in the programme, along with Rahul Chattapadhyay on sitar and Shubhayu Sen Majumdar on esraj. The musical presentation is directed by Rabindra Sangeet artiste and director of Uttarayan Lily Islam, while Bhashwar Bandopadhyay and Dalia Ahmed will recite and emcee the programme.
