US company plans to set up world class hospital
A US-based company has planned to set up a world class hospital in Bangladesh and invest over 30 million dollar in the country's health sector.
This was disclosed by Chief Executive Officer of the American Hospital Consortium, LLC (AHC) Dr Mohammad Habibullah at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
"We are keen to invest in a large hospital and work with the government and healthcare professionals to improve the quality and delivery of services to the people," he said.
The consortium has already invested 2.5 million dollar in a cancer clinic in Dhaka. "We're looking forward to exploring further possibilities for private investment in Bangladesh," he added.
A delegation of the healthcare experts and directors from AHC came to Dhaka on January 4 to meet senior government officials, medical professionals and potential investment partners.
AHC official M Rashed Hasan said they have been talking with the officials at the Board of Investment. "We are very excited to see the positive investment climate here," he added.
Hasan said they are keen to act as a catalyst in the development of health sector in Bangladesh and make direct investment for building healthcare infrastructures.
"Our focus is to invest and help develop healthcare delivery, educational, research and informational infrastructures in emerging Asian countries," he said.
The press conference was also attended by Dr John A Power and Dr James NK Li, members of the AHC team.
