ULAB Celebrates Rabindra-Nazrul Utshab

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) opened its annual Book Fair with a 'Rabindra-Nazrul Utshab' on May 28, 2013, on its own campus in Dhanmondi. Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, Director General, Bangla Academy, inaugurated the fair as chief guest. In his opening remarks, Professor Khan called Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam 'the two stars in the sky of Bengali literature - there is no limit to their contribution to Bengali literature.' Kazi Shahid Ahmed, President, ULAB Board of Trustees, spoke as in the opening session, and  Professor Rafiqul Islam, Professor Emeritus of ULAB gave welcome speech in the opening ceremony.

The Rabindra-Nazrul Utshab was held to celebrate the centeniary of Tagore's receiving the Nobel Prize and of the coming of Kazi Nazrul Islam to Bangladesh. The Book Fair will last for two days, May 28- 29, 2013 at ULAB's Main Campus at Dhanmondi. Books of poems, novels, and short stories by Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam will be available from the Pathok Somabesh, Nazrul Institute, and Bangla Academy. Books published by ULAB faculty and trustee members are also available. The fair is open for all from 10 am to 7 pm.
