UGC Chairman Stresses on Developing Higher Educational Institutions

Innovation, ICT exposure, training and ingenuity alongside the knowledge cultivation at university level are highly needed to face the challenges in the age of globalisation. Developing the higher educational institutions including public and private universities as ICT hub could pave the way for achieving tremendous success, observed UGC Chairman, State Minister, Professor Dr A K Azad Chowdhury.

He made the observation while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on 'Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance' jointly organized by UGC and ICT Ministry at UGC auditorium on June 8, 2013.  Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Ministry of ICT was the special guest while UGC Member Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain presided over the workshop. Professor Dr M Muhibur Rahman  delivered the welcome speech on the occasion.

The function was, among others, attended by Professor Dr Atful Hye Shibly, Member, UGC, Professor Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan, Member, UGC, Professor Dr Mizanuddin, Vice-Chancellor, Rajshahi University, Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Professor Dr Harun-or Rashid, Vice-Chancellor, National University, Professor Dr Abdul Hakim Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University, Professor Dr M A Mannan, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Open University including Vice-Chancellors of Private Universities, divisional heads of UGC, officials of ICT Ministry, ICT experts and bankers, representatives of JICA and World Bank were present on the occasion.
