Two federal ministers of India resign
Two federal ministers of India resigned yesterday and promptly roped in for ruling Congress party's organisational work, ahead of a reshuffle of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's cabinet today evening.
Ajay Maken, who was Housing and Urban Poverty Implementation Minister, and C P Joshi, Highways and Railways Minister, resigned from the UPA government following a directive from the party high command.
They were appointed general secretaries of the party.
Ajay Maken, 49, will head the Congress communication wing. Senior party leaders Digvijaya Singh and Gurudas Kamat have also found a place in the new Congress Working Committee.
Senior leaders Ambika Soni and Shakeel Ahmed too have been made general secretaries and Soni will be in charge of the office of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
