Two 'commit suicide' in capital

Two female college and university students allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the capital yesterday and on Friday, police told The Daily Star.
Rifat Tamanna Chaity, 17, a first-year student of Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt Anwar Girls' College and a resident of West Manikdi, near Dhaka Cantonment, jumped off a six-storey building in Mirpur's Monipur yesterday around 3:00pm.
She had gone to the building, where a relative of hers resided, after an altercation with her mother around 2:00pm.
Tasnima Ashrafi Tisha, 25, a law student at Stamford University, was found hanging by the neck from a ceiling fan on Friday night in the Mohammadpur residence she shared with her husband, two-year-old child and mother.
The mother found the body when she went to check up on her after she went to bed early around 8:30pm.
Family members claimed that Tisha was mentally imbalanced. The bodies were taken to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
