Toki murder case transferred to Rab
The case filed over the murder of Tanvir Mohammad Toki has been formally handed over to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday.
Investigation Officer (IO) Manjur Kader of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station handed over the case documents to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rabiul Islam of Rab-11.
The transfer came as per a May 28 High Court order following a writ petition filed by Toki's father Rafiur Rabbi, vice president of Narayanganj Nagorik Committee, who stated that police were not properly investigating the case.
The HC had also directed not to give the onus of investigation to any Rab official under the ASP rank.
On March 8, police recovered 17-year-old Toki's body from the bank of the river Shitalakkhya in Narayanganj city two days after he had gone missing. Rabbi filed the murder case with the police station following the incident.
Rabbi later submitted a letter to the Narayanganj superintendent of police mentioning involvement of seven people, including former MP Shamim Osman and his son Ayon Osman, in the murder.
