Tk 11,000cr supplementary budget passed
The parliament yesterday passed a Tk 11,000-crore supplementary budget for additional spending by ministries and divisions for the outgoing fiscal year.
“In the past, the size of the supplementary budget was never so small,” Finance Minister AMA Muhith said, while crediting it to better macroeconomic management.
In the supplementary budget, the agricultural ministry received Tk 5,966 crore, roads division Tk 1,218 crore, local government division Tk 787 crore and defence
Tk 603 crore.
On the upcoming fiscal year's budget, Muhith admitted that it was “ambitious”.
“But it is nothing new -- each of my budgets was initially labelled the same," he said.
"Once implemented, it was proved that they were not ambitious but pleasing to all.”
