Zimbabwe have won the first Test match against Bangladesh by 335 runs at Harare Sports Club as the Tigers displayed another poor batting show with more than a day to spare.
Bangladesh lost all their wickets for just 147 in 49.2 overs presenting the hosts their 10th Test win.
Mohammad Ashraful, who scored highest 40 runs for the visitors, went back to the pavilion in 41st over, run out. After his fall, Nasir Hossain, who scored 23, the second highest so far, was bowled by Graeme Cremer.
Opener Shahriar Nafees scored 11 runs before Kyle Jarvis dislodged his off stamp. The other opener Jahurul Islam was caught behind the stamp off a delivery of Shingi Masakadza after scoring 22 runs.
Centurion of the first innings Brendan Taylor reached another century knock in the second innings. He scored unbeaten 102.
Earlier on Friday, Bangladesh lost all their wickets for 134 in their first innings in reply of Zimbabwe’s first innings total of 389. Jahurul Islam scored highest 43 runs for the visitors.
Bangladesh made some early breakthroughs when the hosts started their second innings. But in fifth, seventh and eighth wicket partnerships captain Taylor along with Chigumbura, Cremer and Meth fought back.
Pacer Robiul Islam of Bangladesh bagged 6 six wickets in the innings.
Both the teams started the Test in contrasting moods as Bangladesh had two good test series against West Indies and Sri Lanka in the past six months, while Zimbabwe have had five consecutive losses in Tests.
Zimbabwe’s last success in Tests came in August 2011 when they beat Bangladesh in a one-off Test match.
The match is being telecast live by satellite television channels Maasranga and Ten Cricket.
