Thwarting the one-point movement, for the caretaker government system's restoration, by arresting opposition leaders would not be possible, said BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain in the capital yesterday.
The opposition activists will in turn work with renewed vigour to force the government to step down, he told a token hunger strike Keraniganj Model Thana BNP were staging before Jatiya Press Club demanding the party leaders' unconditional release. A total of 162 BNP leaders are now in jail in different cases.
Meanwhile, the BNP Chairperson's Adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu accused the ruling Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League and Jubo League of killing Shomser Ali Malitha, a BNP leader of Meherpur. Unidentified criminals first hurled two bombs at Malitha, 62, and then hacked him dead in Sonapur village on Friday.
