Three housewives murdered by husbands, another hurt

Three housewives were killed and another was injured allegedly by their husbands in Chuadanga, Pabna, Jhenidah and Patuakhali districts in the last few days.
A woman was found murdered at Poltadanga village in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district yesterday, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Hasina Khatun, 30, wife of Zohurul, and resident of the village. She was a mother of two children.
Quoting family members, police said Zohurul recently engaged in an extramarital relationship with one of the cousins of Hasina. He often tortured her over the issue.
On information, police recovered Hasina's body from her bedroom yesterday morning and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy
Shajahan Ali, officer in-charge at Alamdanga police station, said Zohurul might have strangled Hasina following an altercation over the issue and fled the scene. A murder case was filed, said the OC.
In Paban, a man, disappointed at failure to repay loan to an NGO, allegedly killed his wife at Brirainagar village in Chatmuhar upazila of the district on Friday, reports UNB.
Hapless Rokeya Khatun, 36, was wife of Abdul Kuddus of the village.
Officer in-charge Habibul Islam of Chatmuhar police station said labourer Kuddus took loan from an non-government organisation a few days ago in the name of his wife Rokeya.
Failing to repay the loan, he locked in a quarrel over the matter with his wife and killed her by drowning in a nearby pond of his house in the morning.
On information, police arrested Kuddus and recovered the body. The body was sent to Pabna Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Away in Jhenidah, a woman has been killed allegedly by his husband over dowry at Samanta village in Moheshpur upazila, reports our correspondent.
Deceased Mamataz Khatun, 32, of Dakbangla village in Sadar upazila married one Nazrul Islam of Samanta 15 years ago.
Family sources said Nazrul and his parents used to torture Mamataz for dowry after the marriage.
On Wednesday night, Nazrul strangled his wife following an altercation over the issue, said Waliar Rahman, brother of Mamtaz. She was even buried in absence of the family members.
Being informed, Waliar filed a written complaint with Maheshpur police station in this regard on Friday, said officer in-charge Akram Hossain.
Strict action would be taken against those responsible for the offence after investigating the matter, said the OC.
In Patuakhali, a woman was seriously injured allegedly by her husband and in-laws over dowry in Baufal upazila on Friday, reports our correspondent.
Rubina Begum, 24, wife of Abdul Aziz of Char Algee village, is undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex. She is mother of a baby boy.
Family sources said Aziz and his family members often tortured Rubina for Tk one lakh after seven years of their marriage.
On Friday night, Aziz, his mother and sister attacked Rubina with iron rod following an altercation over the issue. At one stage, they uprooted her two teeth. Thea following morning, she was rushed to the health complex.
