The Beauty of Nature
Keats said, ' A thing of beauty is a joy forever,' and there is no doubt that the biggest beauty of this universe is offered by our mother nature. The beauty of nature comes to us most vividly when Apurba Ranjan Biswas starts his solo painting exhibition at the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka.
The exhibition titled Mother Nature started on January 16. Professor Rafiqun Nabi inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. France Lasnier, directress of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka was also present as the special guest at the inaugural ceremony. In her speech she said, "This exhibition is jointly hosted with Alliance Francaise de Chittagong. The exhibition will no doubt enhance the awareness of the general public on the up and coming talents in Bangladeshi art arena."
"I did not know him," said Professor Rafiqun Nabi, "he is from Chittagong. He was first introduced by some famous artists and teachers from Chittagong. After I saw his work I was amazed. The delectation of his work is that he works with one type of detailing - small objects done by strokes or sketches, very hard to manage, but beautiful."
Apurba's works are very different from others. He bravely experimented with his works. May be the change occurs with the regional difference. His works give a feel that he is in the trend of breaking the old barrier and come out with something new. Apurba details in his works with small objects. Shapes of houses, trees, geometrical forms, human figures and many other things are used frequently with multiple colours. Though he uses Blue constantly. His landscapes picture villages with trees, ponds and paddy fields as if they were all drawn by sitting on the hilltops.
Apurba works in three types of media - oil, water colour and acrylic. He uses all the bright colours in detailing his works. He also did some works in simple Black and White. A group of cattle - a black and white piece by Apurba. Done with small details of brush strokes. The work seems like the colours are spreading out from inside.
Apurba finished his MFA from the Government Art College, Chittagong. A man living so close to the nature is always inspired by it. Apurba loves to play with colours and decorate the nature that he creates in his canvases.
The exhibition will remain open to all from 3 p.m to 8 p.m. till January 20.
