Swapnadal to stage Chitrangada on Int'l Women's Day
Theatre troupe Swapnadal is going to observe International Women's Day 2013 through staging the Tagore dance-drama “Chitrangada” on March 8 at 7pm at Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The troupe will also honour noted theatre actress Lucky Inam and other female theatre activists of Swapnadal prior to the show.
Directed by Zahid Repon, the play will feature Sonali Rahman Julie and Farzana Rahman Mita, alternately, playing the protagonist. Mostafizur Rahman will enact the role of Arjun in the troupe's 11th production. Inspired by an episode from the epic “Mahabharata”, Tagore wrote “Chitrangada” in 1892. The play is a celebration of the emancipation of women.
