Sun stays over city, away from countryside

Though sunny weather prevailed in the capital yesterday, fog and mild cold wave continued in most other areas of the country.

The Meteorological Department forecasted that the mild cold wave would continue for a few days in some areas including Shatkhira, Jessore, Kustia, Srimangal and parts of Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions.

The foggy weather will improve in some areas but dense fog may continue in northern districts and in river basins. The overall temperature in the country may rise.

The lowest temperature in the country yesterday was recorded at 5.7 degree Celsius at Chuadanga and the highest at 21.7 at Teknaf. The lowest temperature in the capital was 9.7 and the highest 21.

A rare Black Bear died at Srimangal on Tuesday due to severe cold. The two-year-old Black Bear named Kalia was one of the collections of Shital Babu, a wildlife expert, according to reports reaching here.
