Sudden Flood
This picture taken on August 22, 2013 shows onlookers being washed away from huge waves from the "Haining tide" - a daily occurrence when the river tides hit the banks of the city - as the waves surged higher than usual due to the influence of Typhoon Trami in the region in Haining, in eastern China's Zhejiang province. State media yesterday reported that 30 people were injured and 11 still in hospital after the wave hit. The tides there have attracted spectators for the past two millennia, and it is the scene of an annual Tide-Watching Festival in late summer. Photo: AFP
